Engagement ring box DIY

by | Aug 14, 2016 | Upcycled DIYs

This box uses regular cardboard that usually gets thrown away. It makes a sturdy box for storing small things, you can basically make it any size you like. it would make a great gift box for jewelry, or for storing different items.

You will Need:

cardboard (cereal box, cracker box, anything you have) ruler pencil/pen scissor glue (elmer’s) clips sand paper/nail file acrylic paint paint brush/sponge applicator
Decide the size and dimensions of your box, I usually just draw the bottom part first to see how big I want my box to be of course different cardboards have different thickness, so don’t forget to double the thickness of the cardboard. To make the lid, just follow the same steps, but make it a little bigger.
Use the dotted lines as a reference for where to fold. Make those folds like in the image above. Important: the solid lines represent the shape of the pattern and the dashed lines represent fold lines.
Glue the pieces together, if you want to make it prettyer go on and continue to the optional steps.
If you are not going to paint it i suggest that you be a little more careful and make it perfect. =) There are many things/ways you can make the box look better, even tho i havn’t tried this, but im sure you can wrap it with fabric, or maybe even vinyle. So use your imagination.
Add a little clump of pillow batting (or the like) to the middle of your fabric.
Now to embellish your ring box… here i used a rope but you can use a ribbon. Take your little pillow and get ready to glue it into your box. Before you glue, place it inside the box to make sure that you like how it’s fitting. Make adjustments to the pillow if need be.
Experiment with different demensions, and most of all HAVE FUN! As with all my DIY tutorials, if you create one of my projects please send me a picture or a trackback – i Love Seeing Your Creativity!
