Easy cold porcelain recipe

by | Apr 3, 2017 | Art & Crafts, DIY Projects

Cold porcelain is an inexpensive, non-toxic, easy-to-work-with material. It does not require heating since it gets hard by exposure to fresh air. It is a cornstarch based paste, which when dry is slightly flexible and has the appearance of real porcelain. It is super fun to work with and incredibly easy to make! Plus, the ingredients can be found right in your own home.

You will need:

PVA Glue 2 table spoon Cornstarch 1 table spoon Vaseline 1/3 tea spoon Baking soda Few drops of Acrylic to make it a different color (optional)

Instructions:

Mix the cornstarch, Vaseline and Baking soda in a dry bowl using a wooden spoon. Then gradually add the glue, start with 1 teaspoon and mix it until you have a smooth creamy paste. Test a bit of the mixture and see if its ready and does not stick. Tip: Apply hand lotion to you hands before you start working with your cold porcelain. It helps the flexibility of the clay.
Optional Step: Divide your dough into equal quantities and color them using food coloring or acrylic paints.
